Dabi urges cooperation from Assam politicians

Itanagar, Aug 25 : Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Tako Dabi today appealed to all the politicians in Assam to cooperate with the Aruanachal government in restoring peace and normalcy in the disputed boundary areas.

Referring to the boundary flare-up since August 14 last in the disputed areas of Tirap district of Arunachal and Sivasagar district in Assam, Mr Dabi told mediapersons that a minor issue taken place at Simhokho near Kamkuh Rusa village in Kanubari sub-division in Tirap could have been solved by the local leaders itself.

He termed it was unfortunate that some vested interests on the Assam side with the help of wrong projection in the Assam media lead to tension in the bordering villages on both sides.

The Home Minister appealed to Assam media to have a sense of normality and sticking to journalistic ethics while reporting the truth on such boundary related issue.

Mr Dabi further claimed the people of Arunachal Pradesh have never encroached upon any part of Assam land but alleged that there was violation by Assam of the 1979 status-quo agreement between Assam and Aruanchal.

Referring to the historical relations and emotional attachment between the people of both the states, Mr Dabi appealed for allowing the people of Arunachal to live in dignity in the disputed boundary areas.

He further said there should not be any further economic blockade as the people wants to live in peace and harmony and ruled out the involvement of either NSCN (IM) or Khaplang faction in the recent boundary tension as claimed by Assam.
