GUWAHATI, June 25 – Reacting to the AGP’s allegation that the full report of the NIA was not handed over to the CBI, government spokesperson Himanta Biswa Sarma today repudiated the allegation and stated that the full report was laid before the House and the government will again lay the report complete with the entire set of communication between the NIA and the State government.
“The government will lay the report which it has in its possession. If Chandra Mohan Patowary has a different report, he can send a xerox copy of it to the government and the government will hand it over to the CBI,” said Sarma.
Sarma also hinted that the LoC case might be reopened and called upon former Chief Minister PK Mahanta not to interfere with the CBI inquiry of NC Hills scam by giving unnecessary statements.
“I request Mahanta to leave CBI do its work professionally,” said Himanta accusing that Mahanta was trying to communalize corruption.
It needs to be mentioned here that Mahanta had remarked in a press meet yesterday that tribal ministers were being made scapegoats in the name of CBI investigation.
“Mahanta wants to do politics with corruption,” Sarma said and demanded a public apology from Mahanta for making such a statement.
Sarma also claimed that Dispur and Congress were not involved in the NC Hills scam.
Meanwhile the State BJP has alleged that the Tarun Gogoi government was making every effort to shield the perpetrators of corruption.
The office of the Jadikhe Naisho Hoshom, the Dimasa Apex Body Central Committee, in a statement has demanded a proper mechanism to check misappropriation of funds in NC Hills district.
