HAFLONG, Feb 8 : A two-day seminar, which began today, was organised by the North Cachar Brigade of the Red Shield Division at Haflong on a subject of contemporary interest –– North Cachar Hills: The Way Ahead. Various stake holders of the society and government attended the seminar, a press release stated. The list of eminent speakers included BJ Mahanta, IG Law & Order, Assam, Col (Retired) Ali Ahmed, Research Fellow, Institute for Defence Studies and Analysis, New Delhi and Samudra Gupta Kashyap, special correspondent of Northeast to Indian Express other than the Army and civil officials from NC Hills.
The aim of the seminar was to provide a collective platform to the civil society leaders, journalists, analysts, academicians, students, leaders of the DHD factions, government agencies and decision makers of NC Hills to interact and chart out a road map for peace and development of NC Hills.
The participants and the speakers present at the seminar lauded the efforts of the Army in taking the lead in hosting the seminar. The actual success of the event would, however, lie in the implementation of strategies and solutions which emerged during the discussion.
