11 pc of Gas Cracker Project work completed

NEW DELHI, Feb 23 – At least 11 per cent of the project work of the Assam Gas Cracker venture has been completed till last month at an estimated cost of Rs 551 crore, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister, Murli Deora said in a Rajya Sabha reply.

Work on the Project has commenced and 16 contractors are currently working at site and 64 buildings and facilities are under construction, said Deora in reply to an un-starred question by Kumar Deepak Das.

As on January 31, overall physical progress is 11 per cent and actual expenditure of Rs 551 crore has been incurred on the project. All efforts are being made to complete the project by the scheduled completion date of April 2012, assured the Minister.

Assuring that demand for job reservation would be fulfilled, Deora said the current requirement was primarily of technical and executive cadre. Non-executive and grade three and four would be created in BCPL at the appropriate time. Currently, around 4,500 skilled and semi skilled and unskilled contract labours are working at the plant site, he added.
