Golaghat (Assam), Jan 15 (PTI) A college student allegedly kidnapped by his friends has been safely rescued by police in upper Assam's Golaghat district, police said today.
Ajay Bajaj (21), a B Com student here, was kidnapped by his friends on Wednesday from Golaghat town. The kidnappers demanded Rs five lakh as ransom from Ajay's father, who is a businessman, police said.
On being informed by the father about the abduction, police rescued Ajay from a hideout at Bokakhat and also nabbed his kidnappers Manoj Singh (26) and Bhaskar Pathak (21).
The police is now looking for Manoj's brother-in-law, also allegedly involved in the crime.
