25 child scientists of Assam to join NCSC in Gujarat

MANGALDAI, Dec 23 : Atlanta Das, a Class V student of Arunodaya Academy of Tangla in Udalguri district of BTAD along with 24 child scientists from different schools of the State has left for Ahmedabad to attend the 17th National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) 2009 under the supervision of Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC), Guwahati.

According to State Coordinator of NCSC, Assam and Project Scientist of ASTEC Biman Barua, 25 child scientists from various districts of Assam were selected on the basis of their performance in the recently concludedNCSC State Congress held at Sivasagar from October 12 to October 15.

The National Children’s Science Congress 2009 will be held Gujrat science city and SGVP international school from December 27 to December 31. All the participating child scientists will get the opportunity to have a close interaction with eminentscientist and former President APJ Abdul Kalam, and Prof Yas Pal will attend the national meet to interact with the child scientists coming from different States of India.

The other selected child scientists from Assam are Abhijit Basumatari (Kokrajhar); Aditya Changmai (Dibrugarh); Anurag Kalyan Borgohain (Golaghat); Arghadip Pal (Hailakandi); Bhargav Ragan (Morigaon); Bhupali Goaswami (Barpeta); Bijit Sarma (Darrang); Binita Deka (Jorhat); Biswajeet Phukan (Sivasagar); Himangshu Singha (Cachar); Jijnashi Das (Darrang); Jyotimala Borah (Lakhimpur); Mitul Das (Bongaigaon); Mrinmoy Dutta (Barpeta); Mukunda Madhab Barua (Dhemaji); N Jayashree Barua (Sonitpur); Nipam Rabha (Baksa); Pranjit Das (Dhemaji); Rajashree Hazarika (Nagaon); Rupankar Jyoti Saikia (Golaghat); Rupjyoti Das (Baksa); Santana Bora (Sonitpur); and Snigdha Haloi (Nalbari).

The child scientists led by State Coordinator in-charge Kishor Deb and nine guides and officials have already left for Ahmedabad city by Brahmaputra Mail on Tuesday.
