BARPETA, Jan 21 In a sensational and gruesome incident, the body of a 12-year-old child missing from his own residence at Bhella, about seven kilometre from here has been recovered in a rotten state. Four accused in this heinous crime have been apprehended by police so far. According to reports, Amit Basak, son of Nirmal Basak, a resident of Bhella Bazar and a student of Sankardev Sishu Niketan nearby Barbila disappeared from his own residence on the afternoon of January 7 last under mysterious circumstances.
On January 13 a phone call was received by the family demanding Rs 15 lakh as ransom. When two youths, Mithun Ojah (18) and Rubul Ojah came to collect the ransom last evening, police in mufti caught them red-handed. Following their disclosure Afzalur Zaman and Mozammil Hoome were also arrested.
Body of the child was found this morning beside a pond behind the Bhella Mini PHC. The decayed body was identified by the family on the basis of clothes worn by the boy. The incident has created a sense of furore and fear in the area igniting sensation prevailing since date of the boy’s disappearance.
