Guwahati, Dec 24 : Unidentified gunmen today shot dead a tea estate manager near Paneri in Udalguri district.
Additional Superintendent of Police of Udalguri district P Longit informed that Karamur tea estate deputy manager Gautam Kotoky was travelling on his motor cycle from section no 1 to section no 28 of the estate for inspection duty when unidentified assailants confronted him.
His body was found with multiple bullet injuries near a bridge. The 45-year-old manager hailed from Kaligaon area of Darrang district but had been a resident of Guwahati city.
Police launched a manhunt but so far no one has been arrested.
Police has not ruled out the militant angle as the tea estate is located in a militant-dominated area.
