DHUBRI, Dec 23 – Fearing bird flu infection in the district, the district magistrate here promulgated Section 144 of the CRPC on December 17 prohibiting the sale and stocking of poultry and poultry products (ie, eggs) throughout the district.
Though no report of this avian disease has been reported from any corner of the district so far, considering the spread of the disease in several districts of Assam, this precautionary measure was felt necessary.
This prohibitory order was passed ex-parte and has come into fore from the date of promulgation of the order. It will remain in force until further orders, the order said, adding that anybody, found violating this order will be punished as per provisions of the law.
