Marijuana (Ganja) cultivation destroyed

 BARPETA, Dec 28 – In one of the biggest ever operations against narcotics, more than five bighas of cultivation of the banned cannabis (ganja) was destroyed in Marichakandi char under Chenga constituency in Barpeta district on Friday.

Acting on specific information and following directives of the district administration, a team supervised by the Gunajit Roychoudhury, Circle Officer, Chenga Circle, Upen Kalita OC Tarabari police station, Khanindra Das, excise inspector and Prasanta Pathak Sub Inspector Excise and comprising forces from Assam Police and paramilitary forces arrived at the spot in the morning and continued the operation for the whole day.

It is worth mentioning that a huge area of such cultivation was destroyed last year also.
