GUWAHATI, Dec 1 – Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today announced his decision to sue Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) president Chandra Mohan Patowary and Leader of the Opposition Prafulla Kumar Mahanta for their alleging in public his involvement in the multi-crore NC Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) scam.
An official release here said, quoting Gogoi, that Mahanta and Patowary have been trying to smear the public image of the Chief Minister through baseless allegations and smearing campaigns with a political design.
The press release said that the Chief Minister has already made his stand on the NCHAC financial scam clear. But the AGP leaders have been launching their smearing campaign to malign his image.
This has made the Chief Minister to go for the decision to file a defamation case against the AGP leaders, said the press release, quoting Gogoi.
