Guwahati, July 27 : Three people of a family were killed in wild elephant attack in Assam's Sonitpur district on Tuesday, police said.
A group of wild elephants attack in the tea garden area of Maijong Pathar, some 45 kms from Biswanath Chariali of Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border area in the district, at wee hours of Tuesday.
One 56-year-old Ajit, his wife (49) and son (16) were attacked by the jumbos at their residence while they were asleep, a senior police official said.
The wild elephants reportedly came from Behali reserve forest to the tea garden areas in search of food.
More than 80 people and over 15 wild elephants have been killed in human-elephant conflict in the state so far this year.
