Dibrugarh, Sept. 13: Hosts Assam today swept aside its opponents in all the categories of the OIL-North East Inter-State Badminton Championship which came to an end in Duliajan this afternoon.
Assam will now represent the North East Zone in the Senior Nationals meet, which will be held in Guwahati in January.
In the Rahimtoola Cup for men, Assam defeated Mizoram 3-0 to book its berth for the senior nationals meet. In the Chadha Cup for women, hosts Assam defeated Meghalaya 2-0. In the Narang Cup for boys, Assam defeated Manipur 2-0, while in the Safi Quareshi Cup for girls, Assam defeated Mizoram 2-0.
The tournament was organised under the joint aegis of the Dibrugarh District Sports Association, Assam Badminton Association and Badminton Association of India.
