Guwahati, May 21 : A youth event has been introduced in the state ranking table tennis championship from the North Eastern Mercantile Ltd-Don Bosco Past Pupils’ Association All Assam Table Tennis Championship — the first annual ranking meet of the state — at Don Bosco School indoor stadium here from Friday to Sunday.
The event, to be held in the under-21 age group, is a new addition to the sport after the event came into existence at the national level in the last couple of years.
Apart from the youth event, there will be altogether 12 events in the open tournament..
SAI apathy: Don Bosco Senior Secondary School has appealed to the Sports Authority of India (SAI) to depute a table tennis coach for the school. Though the school was adopted by the SAI for more than half a decade, it is yet to depute a coach.
