Assam Governor admitted to Army Base Hospital

Guwahati, Apr 28 : Assam Governor Shiv Charan Mathur has been admitted to the Army Base Hospital here on Tuesday following complaints of chest pain.

The Governor, who is fitted with a pace-maker, complained of chest pain last night and was admitted to the army hospital this morning, a Raj Bhavan spokesman told PTI.

Mr. Mathur was in the intensive care unit (UCU) of the hospital and cardiologist Anjan Bhattacharya of the Gauhati Medical College Hospital was brought in for providing medical care to him as the Base Hospital has no cardiologist, the spokesman said.

If needed and Mathur felt better, he would be taken to Escorts Hospital in Delhi where he had been fitted with the pace-maker, the spokesman said.

Mr. Mathur's wife, Sushila Mathur, who was away in Rajasthan had been informed about her husband and was rushing back, he added.

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi called the Governor in the hospital to enquire about his health.
