“We are living in a globalised world and it is pertinent that the farmers get the best of knowledge and expertise,” chief minister Tarun Gogoi said on the concluding day of the National Horti-Expo 2009 here today.
The five-day premier horticultural show was organised by the directorate of horticulture and food processing and the department of agriculture, Assam, at the international convention centre of Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra.
Since the concluding day coincided with Valentine’s Day, the expo registered a huge footfall as many thronged the venue to get the best flowers for their loved ones. The expo displayed top quality flowers, agricultural produce, irrigation systems and latest techniques in horticulture.
Dispur hopes the exposure would help improve productivity. Gogoi said schemes would be chalked out to increase credit facilities and provide modern technology to farmers.
