Foundation of eye hospital laid

 DHUBRI, Dec 28 – The foundation stone of eye hospital, to be constructed at Dhubri with fund from the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) Ltd, was laid at the campus of the Dhubri Town State Dispensary by Dr Bhumidhar Barman Minister, Revenue, Assam Accord Implementation, etc.

Nazibul Omar, president, District Congress Committee, Jatindra Lahkar, Deputy Commissioner, Dr DP Goswami and a host of dignitaries were also present on the occasion.

Rs 14.9 lakh have been offered by the NRHM for upgradation of the Town State Dispensary to FRU as per IPHS while Rs 8 lakh have been provided by the IOC Ltd for construction of an eye OPD and eye OT at the Town State Dispensary.

Laying the foundation-stone of the hospital, Dr Barman said that the eye hospital would boost up the functioning of the District Blindness Control Society while the upgradation of the Town State Dispensary would diminish the pressure on the Civil Hospital.
