Bank organises customers’ meet, loan mela at Barpeta

BARPETA, Dec 28 – A massive loan mela and customers’ meet was recently organised by Assam Gramin Vikash Bank (AGVB) at Barpeta.

The meet, held in the Tarunram Phookan Hall of the town, was organised by the Barpeta branch of the bank under its Nalbari regional office and was participated in by as many as 20 branches of Barpeta district.

It was presided over by Arjun Chandra Das, retired principal of Madhab Chodhury College, Barpeta and was attended by a number of dignitaries, including the general manager of AGVB Shiba Sankar Sing.

Addressing the meet, District Fishery Development Officer Mithila Roychoudhury explained in detail about the development and welfare schemes undertaken by his department and urged upon the people to come forward to avail the benefits of these schemes.

Speaking on the occasion as a distinguished guest, the general manager of AGV Bank Shiba Sankar Sing requested the customers to engage in agricultural activities. He informed that his bank is very much inclined to provide agricultural loan and the farmers should avail it.

However, he reminded them about the formalities and guidelines of the bank which should be adhered to strictly and exhorted the customers to repay the loan on time.

Chakrapani Kalita, senior manager of AGVB’s Nalbari regional office dwelt at length almost on all the schemes of the bank which are very much beneficial to the rural masses. He also mentioned about the regulations to be followed by the Self-help Groups. Providing an outline of the Kishan Credit Card, Urban Credit Card, Self-help Group and Asomi General Credit Card, etc., Kalita appealed to the people to utilise the multifarious services provided by the bank.

Earlier, Babul Chandra Sarma, Barpeta branch manager of AGV Bank narrated the purpose of the meeting and claimed that the bank established by the Central Government to serve the rural agrarian people has been providing yeoman service since its inception in 1976.

The Assam Gramin Vikash Bank has a wide and strong network in Barpeta district with attendance from the nook and corner of the district.
