NEW DELHI, Dec 20 : Manipur has the highest AIDS patients and Assam the highest TB patients in the North-east. According to Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Panabaka Lakshmi there are 58,621 TB and 8,432 AIDS patients in the entire North Eastern Region.
In Manipur, there are 5997 AIDS patients, while Assam has only 749 HIV+ persons. Arunachal Pradesh has the lowest AIDS patients. However, the spread of TB is alarming, with Assam recording 29,756 patients.
However, the total number of TB patients in Assam has decreased from 36,766 last year. The NER had 58621 TB patients, last year.
