Imphal, Dec 31 : The 15th Short Story Reading programme organised by Manipuri Short Story Society, India based at Lakhipur in Assam was held on December 25, Thursday at 8.30 am at the hall of DNNK Girls' Higher Secondary School, Silchar.
Rakesh Naorem, regular columnist of Hueiyen Lanpao (Meetei Mayek edition) has reported from Silchar that president of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Imphal, B Jayentakumar Sharma was the chief guest, president of Manipuri Short Story Society, India, Sinam Bhanubabu presided and president of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Assam, Sougaijam Brajeshwor was the guest of honour at the function.
B Jayentakumar Sharma released a book of short stories titled Khungatlaba Leeklu Pareng on the occasion.
Male and female writers of short stories who came from Manipur and outside read out their short stories during the programme.
Eminent writers, both men and women, who participated in the programme came from Silchar, Hojai, Lakhipur, Shillong, Agartala and Manipur.
It is worth mentioning here that the Society was founded in 2004 .
On the other hand, the 44th annual general body meeting of the Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Assam was held on December 27-28 at the Sanarei Meetei Higher Secondary School, Laishram Khul, Rajeshworpur, Hailakandi, Assam.
On the first day, delegates' session, book exhibition, Kabi Sammelan and traditional cultural programmes were held.

participated in the Kabi Sammelan.
On the second and concluding day, a seminar on the journey of Manipuri poems in Assam and the journey of Manipuri short stories in Assam was held.
Dr Naoram Bidyasagar read out his resource paper on the journey of Manipuri poems in Assam and Mutum Anuradha read out her resource paper on the journey of Manipuri short stories in Assam at the seminar.
