Six passengers critically injured in bus mishap

SILCHAR, Feb 7 : 25 passengers of a bus were injured, six of them critically, when their vehicle in an attempt to overtake a Tata Sumo, lost control and dashed a hillock. The bus which was at speed overturned at Chotomanda under Lakhipur police station near public health centre, 35 km from here, at around 2.30 pm today. The fully loaded bus was coming from Binnakandi Ghat and was moving to Sonai.

The six critically injured passengers identified as Azam Ali (60), Sahinur Nessa (58), Shankar Bouri (18), Sanatan Bouri (40), Dwijendra Das (18) and Rashida Begum (27) were taken by Mritunjoy and admitted in Silchar Medical College Hospital where their condition is stated to be stable. Other passengers were taken to Lakhipur Civil Hospital and given first aid and discharged. The driver of the bus AS-11-C-1867 fled away after the accident and is absconding.
