New paediatric centre set up at Silchar

SILCHAR, Feb 2 : State Health and Family Welfare Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, recently inaugurated a paediatric centre set up by an NGO, Siva Sundari Nari Siksha Ashram (SSNSA), at Silchar. The NGO specialises in gynaecology. However, its new step would surely benefit the people of the region.

An inaugural function was held on the occasion where the minister assured that the State Government would fully assist the NGO through its NRHM programme. Regarding Silchar Medical College, Sarma said that the new infrastructural facilities has helped reduce infant mortality rates here. And, the government is taking further steps towards improvisation of the Silchar Medical College in a modern sense so that it can be compared with other modern medical institutions of the country.

Gautam Roy, State Minister for Excise and Border Area Development, was the guest of honour on the occasion and he welcomed the positive step of SSNSA. He further said that, he will contribute for the ambulance services of the new paediatric centre.

Professor Tapodhir Bhattacharjee, VC of Assam University was the chief guest while other dignitaries like Dr Rumi Nath, Parimal Sukabaidya, MLA, Bimalanghu Roy, ex-MLA, were also present on the occasion.
