Mumbai: Cracking the case within 24 hours, city police arrested four persons for allegedly murdering a manager of Cinemax cinema in suburban Andheri who allegedly forced one of the accused to have unnatural sex with him.
The accused identified as Shreenath Jogi (23), Anil Thakur (22), Ramesh Bariya (24) and Sanjay Kanojiya (23) killed the manager Mandar Patil near Sarvodaya Society at Yari Road on Monday, police said.
The accused, who were arrested on Tuesday late evening, were remanded to police custody, they said adding that Shreenath was allegedly forced to have unnatural sex with the deceased for the last three months.
"Shreenath worked as a coffee vendor in Cinemax cinema and had to report to Mandar daily. Mandar, who was a gay, forced him to have unnatural sex with him ever since he joined there," Suresh Nalavade, senior police inspector, said.
"Shreenath was fed up over his repeated requests. He wanted to get rid of this problem but could not complain to anybody following which he shared the problem with his friends," Nalavade said.
"On Monday at around 2330 hours, Mandar called up Shreenath to have a drink with him near Sarvodaya Society. Already frustrated Shreenath informed his other three friends and conspired to kill Mandar," he said.
Shreenath and his three friends reached the place and started arguing with Mandar, police said adding that, "later they threatened him with a fake revolver and attacked him with a sharp weapon."
The accused fled the spot destroying all the evidence following which police had to inquire in the area to identify the deceased.
"Soon after we identified the deceased, we spoke to his wife but nothing concrete has come out. After we inquired others, we learnt that Mandar was a gay," police said.
"On suspicion we picked up Shreenath who spilled the beans and other three were subsequently arrested," police said.
